Liquid Nitrogen drink

Some people are just soooo stupid.

Apparently, it is becoming a bit of a trend in some UK pubs to sell a liquid nitrogen based  drink.

It seems that liquid nitrogen is added to whatever alcoholic drink one is having and it is supposed to give various effects, presumably like a full stomach filling, smoke coming out of the nose and so forth.

Well, this young girl was given one such drink for her 18th birthday and she has had her stomach and small bowel removed.

I suspect there was too much liquid nitrogen in the drink and that is what damaged her insides.

Drinking liquid nitrogen is like drinking boiling water except many times worse. The extreme cold will burn.

I guess this is what happens when one does not pay attention in class during chemistry lessons.

A WOMAN who was forced to have her stomach removed after she was served a free cocktail containing liquid nitrogen for her 18th birthday has had her day in court.

Oscar’s Wine Bar and Bistro in Lancaster, England has been fined £100,000 ($A217,048) and £40,000 ($A86,808) in costs after the owners pleaded guilty to one count of failing in the duty of an employer to ensure the safety of persons not in its employment.

The pub had only been open for five months when Gaby Scanlon — who is now 20 — was served the Nitro-Jagermeister in celebration of her birthday. But Ms Scanlon said she was not warned about the possible dire consequences of drinking it despite asking the bartender if there were any.

In her victim impact statement, Ms Scanlon said after drinking the cocktail she felt “an explosion” and “agonising pain” as her stomach expanded with gas.

“Smoke was coming from my nose and mouth,” Ms Scanlon said.

“Straight away I knew something was not right.”

After collapsing, Ms Scanlon was rushed to hospital where it was discovered that the liquid nitrogen had killed her internal tissue and the lining of her stomach had been perforated.

Aussie crackdown on liquid nitrogen drinks

Her stomach and small bowel were removed to save her life, the Preston Crown Court heard.

Senior health and safety officer Peter Lord testified that he had raised concerns about the drinks when he had visited the bar in May, 2012.

Prosecutor Barry Berlin said the investigation had “uncovered severe systematic failures by the company and its owners”.

“They knew it was dangerous but didn’t properly police it,” he said.

Ms Scanlon still suffers from pain and must undertake medical treatment.

Drinks containing liquid nitrogen have become popular in some establishments because of the dramatic effect it creates. But medical professionals have warned against consuming the beverages as liquid nitrogen can cause frostbite and severe internal damage.

Just a glass of liquid nitrogen will destroy the organ inside. Hopefully people be ware of the dangerous of liquid nitrogen. I think drink the nature drinks like orange, lemon and other fruit juice is better for health. Something extra ordinary will cause something extraordinary to happen 🙂
