Gandhi dancing with Queen Elizabeth II?

Against my better judgement, I am putting up this post.

A friend sent me this pic.

He suggested that if I posted this pic on my website, I would “attract social comments” 🙂

My first impression was that while it looked like Gandhi, the woman does not look anything like Queen Elizabeth II in her younger days.

I explained that I need some kind of provenance, e.g. when was the picture taken, where did he get the picture, etc.

His response was that I should go looking for it myself on the Internet.

Well, it’s a slow news day and I am bored so I did.

Here’s what Queen Elizabeth would have looked at about the age of the woman shown.

Also, looking at the person who is supposedly Gandhi, it appears that he is probably an elderly person.

Here is a couple of pictures of Gandhi towards the end of his life in 1948 when he was about 70 years old.

Now, Queen Elizabeth II was borned in 1926.

For that picture to be correct, she would have had to dance with Gandhi, before 1948, i.e. before Gandhi was assassinated.

So, Queen Elizabeth II would have had to be at most 22 years old in 1948.

Here are some pictures of Queen Elizabeth around 1948.

So the questions I have are :

    • Will this post “attract social comments” ?
    • Is it Gandhi in the first pic?

Is it Queen Elizabeth II in the first pic?

Over to you readers, let see what comments are posted 🙂

Ghandi asked for independence for India. It would be big struggle for the Queen and the Cabinet to make up the decision to let India free from colonization by Britain. I’m doubtful about the happy dancing party and the dancing queen.

May be the Queen, her majesty can remember the history. Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II is the Queen of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand since 6 February 1952. I like her acting in London Olympic Opening Ceremony. But how to ask her?

Well the first question is that did Gandhi and Queen Elizabeth II ever met? Appreciate if someone can respond with facts and references.
